ABEA 2025 Hands-On Course

Friday, October 10th 12-4:30pm ET

Learning over Lunch will start at 12pm ET

Presenter: Christine Franzese, MD, Otolaryngologist in Columbia, Missouri
JW Marriott Indianapolis, White River Ballroom E

Affiliate of the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting

The American Broncho-Esophagological Association is sponsoring a hands-on workshop to enhance participant ability and knowledge of in-office laryngeal procedures. Office procedures often require two clinicians, with the assistant being almost as important as the surgeon. Both surgeon and assistant require the knowledge of the technology being used, the procedure goals and the potential pitfalls.

This course is designed both for practicing laryngologists and otolaryngologists looking to expand their office-based laryngeal procedure knowledge, as well as allied health providers who routinely participate in these procedures. The course will be open to practicing otolaryngologists, residents, speech-language pathologists, physician assistants and other allied health providers. The course will be a combination of didactics, to explain both basic techniques and advanced pearls, as well as hands-on time with experienced laryngologists to better familiarize themselves with the equipment, methods and nuances. The participants should leave the course with more confidence in both patient and procedure selection, patient preparation/anesthesia, equipment operation and techniques and post-procedure care and expectations. Four office-based laryngeal procedure topics will be covered:

  • Vocal fold augmentation (all routes),
  • Trans-nasal esophagoscopy (adult and pediatric),
  • Laser and other procedures requiring a flexible channel laryngoscope (i.e. biopsy), and
  • Other injection procedures that do not require a channel scope (subglottic and glottic therapeutic injections, botulinum toxin techniques etc.).
  • *New for 2025*  Pediatrics Foreign Body
  • *New for 2025*  Pediatric Cleft Repair

We are excited to host a Learning over Lunch starting at 12pm!
